Algemeen

Dit is de originele tekst van imad Eddin Saidi, zoals deze vrijdag in WereldRegio is afgedrukt. Dear readers, This is the first time I write in this newspaper, I hope you find it interesting and useful. My name is Imad Eddin Saidi, I am from Syria . I live now in a very nice village in Schowen Duiveland called Renesse. The people here are very kind, pleasant, nice and friendly . I will write here - in my perspective - about the people who fled from the shadow of death and persecution in their original country where communities do not know the meaning of the word “human rights”. Every refugee had his own circumstances which obliged him to make the hardest decision ever “ the migration decision “ which sometimes _ as you know_ has been the last decision. That’s why they call it the death journey , and I hope that I can tell you one day about my trip which was similar to that. I came from a country which has been torn by war, where the blood language rise up over any other language. The regime, the opposition and many other parties are fighting but the victims generally are civilians .

Every observer who watch the news can notice the refugees crisis in Europe in general. Many of you have some doubts about the actions of particular category of refugees who have arrived to Netherlands maybe their conditions were really cruel - which is not an excuse. On the other hand if we consider things deeply we find that many immigrants are high level educated ( bachelor, master and even PhD degrees holder). All categories of refugees face a lot of obstacles to find their way and how to live actively in this new country. Learning a new language requires time and effort the thing that limits the creative energies for the most of newcomers, even though each one is trying his best in order to develop its capabilities and work on it at full capacity.

Imagine with me this example , if you change your house to a new one, how much time do you need to settle in your new house? I think it will take few months up to one year to arrange this new house and get used to new neighborhood. So how can we judge a person who has just changed his country, continent, customs and traditions! That’s why it is three years integration program. However, we can find some hard workers who try their best to get a job or start a small project in order to earn income to stop the help from the government. I will not forget the great role of many organizations in Netherland like wligterken werk and Maschaappen werk who are helping the newcomers in their new life. There is also the friendly relations based on mutual respect between the refugee and the neighbors which is one of the most important steps towards acceptance of this newcomer. There are some volunteers who help immigrants with all open-minds. It is my personal experience in Schouwen DuieveLand , I found here all welcome and I became proud that I have friends in this tranquil island also I confirm that many of the newcomers have become friends in all the towns and villages. I thank you for your patience and spaciousness of your hospitality and I promise to be active and effective in this society. And there are some other points I will write about in other times. Thank you for opening your hearts to us before opening the country and I hope that all refugees have as much responsibility and awareness for a bright and prosperous for them and they choose to be a part of the future. All of us are trying to build what is coming for our children and our grandchildren and to be a good example with a new life. And I think the next is the best for all. I welcome your comments and your suggestions as they will enrich the subjects and inspire me. I am proud to consider myself a friend to all

Thank you Imad Eddin Saidi
